Accies manager staying put
Hamilton Academical boss Billy Reid has turned down the chance to speak to Swansea about the vacant manager's job.
The Scottish coach had been identified by the Swans as the man to take over from Paulo Sousa, who has left to become manager of Leicester.
However, talks never materialised after Reid advised that his relationship with Accies chairman Ronnie MacDonald and his players bound him to stay.
Chief executive George Paterson told the club's
official website: "Our chairman was asked by Swansea Football Club for permission to speak to our manager, Billy Reid, regarding an opportunity for Billy to take over as manager of Swansea.
"Ronnie met with our manager and after discussions Billy has decided that he did not want to pursue the opportunity at this time and declined the invitation.
"Billy was flattered by the approach from a club with the stature of Swansea but he feels obliged to see through the unfinished work he has at Hamilton."
Ambitious
Reid has been in charge at Hamilton for five years and is happy to remain at the club.
He added: "I have a built a very strong and hard working squad, we have a hugely successful youth policy and I feel a huge sense of loyalty to the players and staff at Hamilton.
"I remain hugely ambitious and want to progress in management but with this offer the timing was wrong. On top of this I have a superb working relationship with our chairman, Ronnie MacDonald, who gave me my first opportunity in management at Broadwood and that is my ultimate reason for staying."
Meanwhile, Swansea winger Kerry Morgan has been sidelined for six weeks with a broken foot.
Morgan suffered the injury during the Swans' 2-1 friendly win over Port Talbot on Saturday.
The 21-year-old, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Newport County last term, had earlier opened the scoring in the match at Victoria Road.
