Dons defender hits back at snipers
Defender Zander Diamond has slammed suggestions that Aberdeen players under-performed in order to see Mark McGhee sacked.
The Dons are currently going through one of the worst runs in the club's recent history having lost seven games in a row including the record 9-0 defeat at Celtic last month.
And despite the arrival of new management team Craig Brown and Archie Knox at Pittodrie, Aberdeen suffered a 5-0 hammering at Tynecastle against Hearts on Saturday.
Ludicrous
McGhee's departure came after he took just four points from his last 13 SPL games, but defender Diamond has hit back at snipers.
"Everybody has their own personal pride in any dressing room and I don't think any player went out to get a manager sacked," said Diamond.
"That's just ludicrous.
"We like to think when we come into our work, we give 110% in training and games.
"If you were to ask any player they would be hurt at the accusations they didn't perform because they didn't like the manager.
"I would not say there is a guilt at what happened. These things happen in football.
"The players must take responsibility for themselves, but there is no point looking back - we just have to get back up the table.
"People can make their own judgements.
"The players have professional pride and go about our work in the same manner with every manager.
"It's done and dusted now, as Mark McGhee has left and we wish him all the best."
