Mexico star linked with short-term switch to Italy

Celtic midfielder Efrain Juarez has denied that he is set to move to Serie A side Brescia on loan. The 22-year-old Mexico international signed a four-year contract with the Hoops last summer but has so far only made 10 SPL appearances for the club, with just four starting roles. Speculation had suggested Juarez was to be shipped out on loan to the Rondinelle, but he denies that he is going to leave Parkhead. "I was very surprised to hear this rumour. I went to train, then I had a sleep in the afternoon. When I woke up, my phone was ringing like crazy," he told the Daily Record. "Even my dad phoned to ask what was happening about Brescia. "I am absolutely not aware of any transfer to Italy. I remain at Celtic." Juarez's agent Jorge Berlanga is similarly dismissive of the reports and insists the combative player will be staying put. "I'm very upset by these reports. I have had a meeting with Celtic and there is no transfer for Efrain," he added. "For a start, I don't think Efrain could go anywhere because of work permit issues." Juarez made a rare appearance for Celtic as a substitute in Saturday's 4-1 rout of Aberdeen and will be hoping to feature once more against the Dons in the league on Tuesday.
