Manager hopes to secure long-term deal for keeper
Ally McCoist admits he is hopeful about the chances of Allan McGregor signing a new deal at Rangers.
The goalkeeper has been one of the most consistent performers for Rangers this term and was instrumental in helping his side earn a 0-0 draw with Celtic on Sunday.
Despite having two years left to run on his current contract, the 29-year-old has reportedly been offered a new four-year deal at Ibrox.
With McGregor's long-term future not yet resolved, McCoist admitted that he would like to have the keeper in his squad when he takes over the managerial reins at the club next season.
He said: "I can't confirm it unfortunately because I haven't really spoken to (chief executive) Martin Bain or Allan about it.
"But I know that Martin and Allan's representatives have been talking.
"The fact that Allan has come out and said he wants to stay is a great start to any conversation about someone renewing their contract.
"It would certainly be a great boost for us. From the management side, we are very hopeful that a deal can be done.
"We saw at the weekend how important he is for us but he has been top class for a while."
