Papac pneumonia fears dismissed

Rangers have denied rumours defender Sasa Papac contracted pneumonia while on international duty.

Defender will still miss Inverness clash this weekend

Rangers have denied rumours defender Sasa Papac contracted pneumonia while on international duty. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international was taken ill earlier this week and was forced to miss his country's goalless draw with Greece on Wednesday. Rumours then began to spread that the defender has contracted pneumonia and would be out for some time. However, the SPL champions have scotched those reports, although they did confirm the 31-year-old will miss the game with Inverness this weekend through illness. "Sapa Papac will miss Saturday's trip to Inverness but Rangers are keen to point out that he does not have pneumonia," said a statement on the club's official website. "Papac travelled to Bosnia earlier this week with the intention of ending his international exile but felt unwell and was immediately ruled out of the game with Greece. "He will return to Murray Park where he will be assessed by the medical team who have confirmed that he does not have pneumonia, contrary to reports elsewhere today."
