Defender now free to play

Recent Rangers signing Carlos Bocanegra has obtained a work visa to enable him to play in Scotland. The USA national team captain signed from French outfit St Etienne earlier this month and made his debut in Rangers' Europa League tie against Maribor in Slovenia last week. However, the 32-year-old did not have the correct visa to enable him to play in the SPL champions' league match at Motherwell over the weekend. The appropriate paperwork has now been received by the Glasgow club and the former Fulham man is now free to play in Scotland, starting with the second leg of the Maribor tie on Thursday. Fellow US import Alejandro Bedoya is in a similar situation and is hoping to receive a visa in the next 24 hours.
