League to investigate a complaint of pro-IRA chanting last month
The Scottish Premier League have confirmed that they will investigate allegations of pro-IRA chanting during Celtic's game with Hibernian.
Former referee and senior policeman Eddie Smith has lodged the complaint after he heard chants during the 0-0 draw in October.
Celtic are also in potential trouble with UEFA after Smith made a complaint to a delegate over "illicit chanting" in the Europa League clash with Rennes earlier in November.
Two people, a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth, were also arrested during the SPL game against Hibs.
The SPL's operations officer Ian Blair said: "Eddie mentioned to our delegate that there was pro-IRA chanting from one specific section of the stadium.
"It was included in the report and is now subject to an on-going investigation.
"I am currently gathering information about what happened during the match when the arrests were made.
"Eddie has mentioned that there was pro-IRA chanting but we need to find out more about when it happened and what exactly went on.
"We also have to establish that Celtic, as I am sure they will have, co-operated fully with the police in the aftermath of this event."
