Celtic defender fractures cheekbone and eye socket, fears Lennon

Daniel Majstorovic faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected fractured cheekbone and eye socket in Celtic's 2-0 win at St Johnstone. The Swede stumbled off after just 30 minutes following a clash of heads with David Robertson during the SPL match at McDiarmid Park. Afterwards Saints boss Steve Lomas claimed Majstorovic's challenge was malicious. But Hoops boss Neil Lennon, who saw Gary Hooper and Ki Sung-Yueng hand victory to his side, disagreed with his opposite number.

Bravery

Lennon said: "It was a perfectly good full-blooded challenge from a centre-half who only had eyes for the ball and he ended up worse off for his own bravery. "There was nothing wrong with the challenge at all. It looks like a fractured cheekbone and it could be a fractured eye socket as well. "It is a big blow because he has been immense for us. We will have to wait to see the extent of it but it looked a real sore one." Lennon also disagreed with Lomas' assertion that Beram Kayal should have been sent off for charging down Liam Craig's free-kick shortly after being booked for a similar offence. "I don't think it deserved a booking the second time," Lennon added.
