Real and Barca won again in Spain but the weekend ended in controversy as Granada's game with Real Mallorca was abandoned. Bayern lost a top-of-the-table clash with Dortmund, Juventus went top of Serie A while big-spending PSG lost at home in Ligue 1.Primera Liga
On Saturday Real Madrid remained at the summit of La Liga with an eighth victory in a row against Valencia. Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the goals in a 3-2 win. Barcelona remained hot on the heels of Jose Mourinho's men though as they stormed to a convincing 4-0 win over Real Zaragoza. Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol, David Villa and Lionel Messi were on target at the Camp Nou, making it 30 goals in just seven home league games this season. Controversy reigned on Sunday when the clash between Granada and Real Mallorca had to be abandoned after 63 minutes after one of the referee's assistants was struck with what appeared to be an umbrella thrown from the crowd. Granada were leading 2-1 at the time but after taking the players off the field following the incident, the referee chose to abandon the game entirely.SPL
Rangers saw their lead cut at the top of the SPL to just ten points after they failed to win at home. Ally McCoist's men could only draw 0-0 with St Johnstone, with Steve Lomas taking a creditable point from his first game in charge of the Saints. Second-placed Celtic attempted to keep the pressure up on their city rivals with a 2-0 win at Inverness, Anthony Stokes with a brace for the Hoops. League leaders Paris St Germain suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat at the hands of struggling Nancy, Jean Calve with the only goal for Les Chardons, who began the day second from bottom. Montpellier took full advantage of PSG's slip-up to move level on points with the league leaders thanks to a narrow 1-0 home win over Montpellier, an own goal from Souleymane Diawara the difference at Stade de la Mosson. Third-placed Lille could only draw 0-0 with Toulouse allowing Rennes the opportunity to draw level with Joe Cole's side following a 2-1 victory at Lyon.Bundesliga
Borussia Dortmund stunned league leaders Bayern Munich to close the gap at the top to just two points. Reigning champions Dortmund showed they are not going to relinquish their title without a fight with an impressive 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena, Mario Gotze with the goal early in the second half. Borussia Monchengladbach are also in the hunt and stayed level on points with Dortmund thanks to a thumping 5-0 home win over Werder Bremen, Marco Reus grabbing a hat-trick for Die Fohlen. Eredivisie leaders AZ Alkmaar's game away to Excelsior was abandoned at half-time thanks to heavy fog in Rotterdam, allowing PSV the chance to close the gap at the top to three points thanks to their 3-1 win at Graafschap. Ajax looked to be coasting to victory against NAC Breda when Derk Boerrigter put them 2-0 up with six minutes remaining at the Amsterdam Arena. But two goals in the final four minutes for the visitors ensured a dramatic share of the spoils. Third-placed FC Twente were also denied victory in the dying moments. On Saturday Lazio briefly moved to the top of Serie A thanks to a 0-0 draw away at Napoli while struggling Inter Milan grabbed a much-needed 2-1 win at home to Cagliari. On Sunday Juventus moved back to the summit of Serie A thanks to a 3-0 home win over Palermo, leapfrogging Lazio and Udinese, who lost 2-0 away at Parma. Anderlecht stayed three points clear at the top of the Belgian Jupiler League thanks to a 3-1 home win over St Truiden. Gent stayed in second place with a 4-0 away win at Kortrijk. The top two in Greece, Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, drew 1-1, meaning Panathinaikos remain two points clear at the top. In Turkey Fenerbahce moved four points clear at the summit with a 1-0 win at home to Eskisehirspor.
