With Brendan Rodgers repeatedly being linked with the Arsenal job, Gordon Strachan says it would need to be a 'heck of a job' to tempt him away from Celtic

Former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan thinks Brendan Rodgers still has work to do at the club and should only leave Parkhead for a "heck of a job".

Strachan led the Bhoys to the knockout stages of the Champions League during his time with the Scottish champions, something Rodgers is yet to achieve, but he did oversee their first group-stage wins in four years as well as reaching the last 32 of the Europa League.

Rodgers led Celtic to an undefeated domestic season in Scotland last term, and he has been linked in the British media with the Arsenal job should Arsene Wenger leave the Emirates Stadium.

However, Strachan still thinks there is more Rodgers can achieve before he moves on from the club, who are six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a game in hand.

"He's not done all he can," Strachan said on The Debate. "If you are leaving Celtic, it has to be for a heck of a job, when you've got a chance to continue the success he's enjoying at the moment.

"They're in the Champions League, that's the big bonus. I'm sure he wants to say 'We've not qualified yet, I want to qualify and play the real big boys of the competition.'

"That's what Celtic gives you. Okay, there are some games that are kind of academic, but you get on with it, you win.
