Marshall lands player award

Celtic starlet David Marshall has rounded off a remarkable last few weeks by scooping the Bank of Scotland young player of the month award for March.

Marshall has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame in the last month after being thrust into action.

The youngster produced heroics in the goalless draw with Barcelona in the Uefa Cup and followed that up with another impressive display in the Old Firm success over Rangers.

Marshall admitted he was still coming to terms with all that happened him in the last month but knows he still has a lot to do in the game.

"It's great," remarked Marshall. "A couple of months ago I wouldn't have even dreamed about getting that award.

"For a young player it is a great honour to receive it. Rab is an international class keeper and working with him day in day out has helped me to get where I am today.

"But I am under no illusions that I have not done anything yet and I will still need to work hard.

"I have got to wake up some days which is unbelievable. But I get on with it because it is a job at the end of the day."
