Hoops defender insists he can handle the pressure
Celtic defender Daniel Majstorovic has stated that he has no fear of what is in store for their Old Firm derby against Rangers on Sunday.
The Swedish international, who joined the club from AEK Athens in the summer, is set for his first taste of the intense heat of the Glasgow derby, where he will start at centre back for the Hoops under Neil Lennon's new regime.
Although the Glasgow derby is a whole new experience for Majstorovic however, the much-travelled 33-year-old veteran insisted that he will ensure that the green and white side of the city will come out on top.
"You need to be mentally prepared for these games and not given anything away," Majstorovic told the
Evening Times.
Great chance
"The game will give us a great chance to go three points ahead. So it means a lot. It's the game the supporters love to win, and the one they look forward to.
"It's their game of the year, and it's important for everyone, for the fans and for the club. It's always a special feeling for everybody, so we will do everything to give them some satisfaction."
He told the Celtic View: "If you have the possibility to be part of this, you should really be proud, happy and just enjoy it.
"We're getting better and better, but we have a long way to go to reach the stage we want to be at. So far, we have been very good, and if we keep going in this way, then I think this season will be very good for us."
Majstorovic's experience prompted many to believe that he would be given the captain's armband for the game in the absence of Scott Brown.
However, Lennon has given the honour to Shaun Maloney, a decision that Majstorovic was happy to go along with.
"I'm not too long in the club. But, if the possibility and the chance comes up, then I will be proud and happy to take it," he added.
"The most important thing is that we give the support to Scott. It is a big loss for us that he is injured."
