Rangers will host Celtic on Easter Sunday
The Scottish Premier League has confirmed that the final Old Firm derby of the season will take place on Easter Sunday.
The SPL confirmed the game would kick off at Ibrox at 12.30pm on 24th April "following consultations with Strathclyde Police and the heads of security from Rangers and Celtic".
Tempers flared in their recent Scottish Cup replay at Parkhead where Ally McCoist and Neil Lennon had to be separated on the touchline after the full-time whistle.
Gers had three players dismissed in the game, which only added to the tension, although they exacted revenge following an extra-time success in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final.
Police are normally keen to avoid the match going ahead on a bank holiday weekend, but the first two weekends after the split are both holiday weekends.
The match is the first after the split, therefore ruling out the added tension if the match could potentially decide the title.
