Celtic are yet to make an offer of a new contract to midfield star Victor Wanyama,
Sky Sports can confirm.
The Kenyan has been sensational for the Scottish champions since joining from Belgian side Beerschot last summer.
A host of Premier League clubs have been checking on Wanyama. He was linked with a summer move to England but Celtic refused to sell.
Now Celtic are reported to be looking to tie Wanyama down to a new deal but his business manager Rob Moore has confirmed that no offer has been made.
Moore also added that Wanyama does not see the need to extend his contract, given he already has three years left on his current deal.
"We can confirm that although Celtic has intimated that they wish to offer him a new deal, we have not had any offer to improve Victor's contract," Moore confirmed to
Sky Sports.
Progress
"Obviously given his progress and his standing within Scottish football, we would expect that to be recognised.
"He came in on an 'entry level' deal but is established as one of the best young midfielders in Europe, and because of that it is not unreasonable that it is recognised and he is rewarded accordingly.
"There has been reports of a long-term deal, but Victor still has three years left on his deal anyway, so we probably don't see the benefit of actually extending the duration.
"An improvement in his current deal is all about recognising his progress, off a low base, and then rewarding him accordingly.
"I believe that Celtic would look for a substantial transfer fee for him therefore it would only be right that they follow that up with improving his current deal accordingly."
Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers, Newcastle, Sunderland and West Ham United are all believed to be keeping tabs on the impressive African.
