Celtic have announced that development coach Stevie Frail has left the club with Academy manager Tommy McIntyre taking on his responsibilities.

Frail, 46, has been part of the Celtic backroom staff since 2009 when he made the move to Glasgow from Hearts, where he took temporary charge of the first-team on two occasions.

McIntyre will take on the added role until Celtic can find a replacement for Frail, who revealed he is leaving to try and find a new challenge within the sport.

Frail said: "I have had a great time at Celtic over the past few years and enjoyed working for a great club with some really good players, but I felt the time was right to move on and look at some new challenges in football.

"As well as working with top players, I've been lucky enough to work with top coaches and managers and have learned so much in my spell at the club.

"I leave a lot of friends both on and off the pitch and would like to thank all the people I have worked with from the guys and girls in the offices to catering staff, kit men and women and everyone else at the Club.

"I wish the manager, his staff and all the players every success for the season, and hopefully I will be watching some of the young lads I have worked with playing regularly in the first team."
