Rangers to appeal Rae ban

Rangers have decided to appeal against a five match ban handed to Alex Rae by Uefa.

Scottish giants Rangers have confirmed they will be appealing a five-match ban handed out to Alex Rae by Uefa.

The fiery midfielder was handed the ban on Monday following an incident in The Gers' UEFA Champions League qualification defeat at the hands of CSKA Moscow.

Rae was charged with gross misconduct after clashing with Moscow midfielder Sergei Dadu last Tuesday.

The former Sunderland and Wolves midfielder, who has been praised for his performances this term, was caught on camera lashing out at Dadu.

As it stands, Rae will be unavailable for the second leg next week but this could now alter depending on Uefa's reaction to their appeal.
