Dons boss says side are too good for the drop
Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee has hit back at critics who have suggested that his side could face a relegation battle.
The Dons have failed to win any of their last seven games in the Scottish Premier League and now lie in seventh place, nine points ahead of bottom team Falkirk, who defeated McGhee's men 3-1 on Saturday.
McGhee however was defiant in his response about the possibility of getting sucked into a dogfight for their top-flight status, stating that they could well be amongst the European places if their form turns around.
"No, it is a totally ludicrous suggestion," he said.
"A little over a week ago we were being praised by fans and the media for the way we played against Celtic.
"Everyone was going on about how we had a great chance of making a big push for a European place.
"Yet here we are just two games later and suddenly it is being suggested my job could be on the line and every player at Pittodrie is rubbish."
Pressure
The Aberdeen boss has won just eight out of 31 games since he took charge at Pittodrie and is under mounting pressure to stand down from his role.
But McGhee has rubbished suggestions that his job is on the line, believing that everyone's opinion of him will change if they pick up victories in the games to come.
"I was angry when I read headlines saying 'McGhee won't be sacked by the Dons'," he added.
"I've been in the game long enough to know it's possible to turn these sort of things around quite quickly.
"Who is to say it won't be back to the all-conquering hero stuff if we beat Hearts and Hamilton in our next two games?"
