Dons boss hoping to snap up Hendrie and Williams
Mark McGhee is confident he will soon be in a position to further strengthen his Aberdeen squad.
The Dons boss is keen to piece together a side capable of pushing for a lofty finish in the SPL next season, having seen the club slump into the bottom-half last term.
Among those on his summer shopping list are former Aston Villa and Derby midfielder Lee Hendrie and ex-Huddersfield left-back Robbie Williams.
McGhee is optimistic regarding his chances of signing both men and hopes they will be on board in time for Aberdeen's latest pre-season outing in midweek.
"We are negotiating with their representatives and we need to bring that to a conclusion as soon as possible," he told
RedTV.
"I would like them both to be playing at Port Vale on Tuesday."
Meanwhile, Togo midfielder Yoann Folly is another in the frame to earn a permanent deal with the Dons after impressing in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Tamworth.
His efforts to land a deal have received a welcome boost with the news that Adnan Ahmed has left the club, along with fellow trialists Conor Okus and Jeff Smith.
"I had a bit of a decision which I was helped to make in that Adnan couldn't wait any longer," McGhee added.
Bizarre
While Aberdeen are hoping to have fresh faces on board in the near future, one of their more experienced stars is set to sit out the remainder of their pre-season training camp in England.
Goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has spilled boiling water on his right foot in a freak accident and is expected to be sidelined for at least a fortnight.
"It's not as bad as it could have been, but it's bad enough," McGhee told the
Press and Journal.
"He has burned his foot and it looks like he will be out for a few weeks.
"It is one of those unfortunate things but we cannot dwell on it. We all have to get on with it."
