Motherwell confirm interest from SPL rivals

Craig Brown has pledged to stay on as Motherwell manager after rejecting an approach from SPL rivals Aberdeen. The Dons are looking for a new boss after sacking Mark McGhee last week and turned to the vastly experienced Brown and his assistant Archie Knox. Motherwell have confirmed that the managerial duo did meet with Aberdeen on Tuesday, but have vowed to continue in their roles at Fir Park. "Given the fantastic on-field success in 2010, it is not surprising that other clubs are taking an interest in our management team," said Motherwell chief executive Leeann Dempster in a statement. "With that in mind, we can confirm that representatives from Aberdeen Football Club met briefly with both Craig Brown and Archie Knox. "However, both have decided to reject any approach and reiterated their commitment to Motherwell Football Club. We look forward to continued success under both men in the future." Brown and Knox took charge at Fir Park 12 months ago following the departure of Jim Gannon and led Well to fifth place in the SPL. Aberdeen will now continue their search for a new boss, with Scotland Under 21 manager Billy Stark and former Hibernian manager John Hughes among the favourites for the vacancy.
