Hearts look at striker
George Burley has confirmed his interest in signing Edgaras Jankauskas.
Hearts manager George Burley has confirmed his interest in signing Edgaras Jankauskas and is closing on a deal for Rudolf Skacel.Reports had claimed that Jankauskas has already signed a two-year contract but, while that is premature, the Lithuanian is trying to win a deal at Tynecastle.
Jankauskas is available on a free transfer from Porto and has already rejected moves to Vitoria Setubal, Sporting Braga and Vitoria Guimaraes.
The striker is currently in Edinburgh for a trial with Hearts and Burley is keen to assess the experienced hit-man before committing himself to an offer.
Burley said: "Jankauskas is over and we will have a look at him."
The SPL side are also near to finalising their swoop for Czech Republic international Skacel, who is due to join on loan from Marseille.
Skacel will undergo a medical on Tuesday and Burley feels the midfielder will inject an extra ounce of quality into his squad.
The Hearts boss said: "He has a good calibre and there is no doubt the boy is quality.
"Rudolf is the type of player that has the quality we need to bring in to improve the squad."
Burley will leave a decision on another trialist - French attacker Julien Brellier - until next week after he has assessed him in training.
