Pinilla to grasp Hearts chance

Mauricio Pinilla is keen to make the most of his Hearts opportunity.

Mauricio Pinilla is keen to move to Hearts after failing to impress during his time with Racing Santander.

The Chilean striker finished the end of last season with the Liga outfit, but failed to have the impact he hoped to have in Spain.

Pinilla thought he might have to return to parent club Sporting although he will now make the move to the SPL upon passing a medical with the club.

While the 22-year-old recognises the Tynecastle outfit are not a European giant, he is keen to regain his form and prove he can succeed in European football.

"The first thing that I want to do is pass my medical so I can sign my Hearts contract," said Pinilla.

"I know that I'm not going to one of the biggest teams in Europe, but I am happy because I have been in Hearts' mind for some time.

"I am thankful for the chance with a European team to change my situation. I'm thankful Hearts have faith in me.

"Everything has been difficult since I came to Europe. I thought it was going to be easier, but I was wrong.

"But now I have the chance to show what kind of player I am and I'm not going to let the chance pass by."

Meanwhile, Hearts fielded no less than four Lithuanian trialists against Spanish outfit Osasuna in Wednesday's friendly.

Hearts boss Valdas Ivanauskas confirmed up to two of the players could join the team, although they need more time to decide the players' fate.

"It is possible that a few Lithuanian players will sign for Hearts, but we need to wait and we need time," Ivanauskas confirmed to the club's official website.
