Czech shot-stopper seals Easter Road switch
Hibernian have captured Czech Republic goalkeeper Jakub Divis on loan until the end of the season following a successful trial.
The 24-year-old is the club's fifth signing in January and second of the weekend following the arrival of Victor Palsson.
The shot-stopper also spent time with Championship side Doncaster after leaving Easter Road, however, manager Colin Calderwood has now pushed through a deal.
Divis' first choice was always to stay with Hibs and he is now pleased the deal has been rubber-stamped.
Hibs suffered a 3-0 defeat to Dundee United on Sunday and now Divis will provide current No.1 Mark Brown with competition.
Out of the blue
"Everything's happened so quickly," he told
1fctatran.sk. "It all came out of the blue. I received offers then travelled to undergo the trials.
"After three days it was clear that I would stay with Hibs. Even though they were interested I went to Doncaster.
"Hibs were meant to let me know after Wednesday's training, but as they were playing Rangers that night there wasn't time for negotiations. Had the talks started that day I wouldn't have travelled at all.
"I'm expecting stern competition to play, but for me it is a big call and a big chance. I'll be doing my best to win a regular spot."
Progress
Divis will spend the rest of the season on loan with Hibs, who have the option of pushing through a permanent transfer and his club Presov did not want to stand in his way.
"Jakub spent three days on trial in Scotland. He impressed with his performances and Hibernian showed interest in securing his services," said sporting manager Erik Bogdanovsky.
"As we did not want to stay in Jakub's way because of all the good work he had done for us, we have agreed with Hibernian on a half-year loan spell with the option of a permanent move."
