Inverness manager John Hughes will make a personal plea to Swindon in a bid to keep loan striker Miles Storey beyond January.

Storey has netted seven goals for Caley Thistle and Hughes has not ruled out a permanent move for the 21-year-old, whose Swindon contract expires at the end of the season.

And Hughes hopes Swindon chairman Lee Power, a former Hibernian team-mate, can do him a favour.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's home game with Ladbrokes Premiership bottom club Dundee United, he said: "The first one I want to do is Miles Storey, that's for sure.

"The Swindon manager is an ex-mate of mine, Lee Power, and he's a bit of a rascal, so I'll have to give him a personal phone call just to make sure he does me a turn.

"Hopefully for Miles he is here after the Christmas window still plying his trade and scoring goals.

"I wouldn't like to think it works the other way and he goes back to Swindon and sits on his backside."

Meanwhile, Hughes is considering making a contract offer to Swedish defender Benjamin Omerovic, who is on trial with the club.

"I've been very impressed," he added.

"He's a young one and this is a wee bit new to him in terms of the intensity which we train.

"But the boys have taken to him and he played as a trialist in the under-20s and acquitted himself very well.

"His age is good because he's young but is he better than what we've got? There's no point bringing in him if he's no better than what you've got or unless he has the potential to be better than what you've got."
