Alan Burrows appointed Motherwell's chief operating officer

Motherwell general manager Alan Burrows will join the Fir Park board after being promoted to the role of chief operating officer.
The club's former head of communications took over the day-to-day running of the Steelmen two years ago following the departure of Leeann Dempster to Hibs.
Having represented the Premiership outfit at meetings involving the Scottish Professional Football League, the Scottish Football Association and the European Club Association, as well as overseeing negotiations between fan ownership group the Well Society and owner Les Hutchison, the club's directors have now decided his efforts merit a loftier title.
The 33-year-old will now take his seat on the club board, reporting directly to chairman Jim McMahon and his fellow directors.
"We've had a transitional two years at the club, which although has been a challenge, has been very enjoyable," Burrows told the club website.
"The club is set to undergo some more positive changes, with a newly reorganised staffing structure and fresh ideas.
"We have lots to do and improve on, but there is also a lot to be positive about. We have a terrific Community Trust, a flourishing Academy system and solid foundation to build on after a fifth-placed finish last term.
"On the park, Mark McGhee is working hard to put our squad together ahead of the 2016-17 season, together with some of our emerging talent from Stephen Craigan's cup-winning U20s squad.
"I look forward to serving on the board and working closely with the chairman and fellow directors over the months and years ahead."
Chairman McMahon praised Burrows' commitment and was happy welcome him to the board.
"I am delighted that Alan has agreed to take up the post of chief operating officer," said McMahon.
"I have worked with him for a number of years now and no one is more dedicated to the long-term future of this club.
"He will be an excellent addition to the board of Motherwell Football Club."
