Manager Alex Rae sacked by St Mirren

St Mirren have sacked manager Alex Rae following their poor start to the new season.
Rae, who was appointed St Mirren boss in December 2015, leaves the club bottom of the Scottish Championship and without a league win this season.
The 46-year-old's assistant David Farrell has also been dismissed, with Allan McManus, the head of the club's academy, taking control of first-team affairs on an interim basis.
St Mirren, who were relegated from the Scottish Premiership in 2015 following nine successive seasons in the top-flight, have lost three of their opening six matches and trail leaders Hibernian by 12 points.
"St Mirren have terminated the contracts of both manager Alex Rae and assistant manager David Farrell," a club statement read.
"The head of the club's academy, Allan McManus will take the team on an interim basis until a successor is appointed. This will be the board's immediate priority.
"The board would like to thank both Alex and David for all of their efforts on behalf of the club and wish them all the best for the future
"St Mirren FC will be making no further comment at this time."
