Lennon confirms midfielder has rejected switch
Watford midfielder Scott Severin has rejected the chance to join St Mirren on loan this season.
The club's new manager Danny Lennon had hoped to bring the former Aberdeen and Kilmarnock man to New St Mirren Park.
Lennon has confirmed his interest in the former Scotland international, but has conceded defeat in his attempts to secure his signature on loan.
"We would have liked to bring Scott here, but sometimes players make decisions based on more than just football reasons and we must respect that," Lennon told the
Watford Observer.
"I am aware we have brought in three young players from Cowdenbeath who are developing players with huge potential but, at the same time, we need to balance that out with more experience and, of course, quality."
Severin joined Watford on a free transfer last summer but only made 11 appearances for the club and was loaned out to Kilmarnock in February.
