Defender recovers quicker than expected from fractured eye socket
St Mirren have been handed a fitness boost with the news defender Marc McAusland is set to return against St Johnstone after recovering from injury quicker than expected.
The 23-year-old suffered a fractured eye socket against Aberdeen at the end of last month and was thought to be facing a lengthy recovery.
However, McAusland has missed just two games and is set to make a speedy comeback against the Saints in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday.
Buddies manager Danny Lennon welcomed the centre-back's return as his side look to end a nine-match winless run in the league.
He told the Daily Record: "Marc will be back for the St Johnstone game and it's good to know he'll be returning.
"Jim Goodwin has covered in defence and did a good job but Marc has been a big player for us this term."
