McIntyre targets quick move after Thomson's loan ends

Dunfermline Athletic boss Jim McIntyre is keen to move quickly in the January transfer market after the end of Jason Thomson's loan spell. The SPL's bottom club are looking to strengthen in the New Year and the club confirmed on Thursday that they are hoping to raise income to bring in a 'further two or three players'. But full-back Thomson's return to Hearts following the end of his loan spell means McIntyre can immediately strengthen. "We're looking to fill that space," McIntyre said. "I've had a chat with the board and they are working behind the scenes to try to raise funds to strengthen the squad. "If the right players are available I'll be able to bring them in right away, but how many will depend on how much clubs want for their players."

Mistakes

McIntyre admitted he needed to bring players in after a 3-0 defeat by St Johnstone on Christmas Eve left them bottom of the SPL and without a home win all season. But he insists he has not given up on any of his current squad, adding: "I don't think I said to any of my players that they need to move on. "What I said was you can't expect to keep your place in the team if you're making the same mistakes. I'm not being any harsher than I have been throughout my managerial career. "The bottom line is, if you make mistakes and you continue to make them and you're not learning from them, then you need to look to change your team around. It's as simple as that."
