Les Verts boss given vote of confidence

St Etienne sporting director Damien Comolli says the club are fully behind under-fire manager Alain Perrin. Les Verts slipped to an embarrassing 4-0 reverse at the hands of Lille on Thursday and now find themselves perilously close to the relegation zone in Ligue 1. Former Portsmouth boss Perrin has been in charge of the club since November last year and pressure is building on him to get results. However, Comolli, the former Tottenham director of football, says Perrin's job at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard is not under threat. "We have been extremely disappointed and worried with the way we lost," he told L'Equipe. "We felt the team gave up. Anyway, we will show full solidarity. We are hear to help the coach. "There is no date, objective nor ultimatum. It was just a meeting to say: 'Alain, we are all together in this situation'." Comolli also revealed that St Etienne could swoop in January for a defender, with the club having conceded 22 goals in 16 games so far this season. He added: "There is a strong possibility we will make a move during the winter transfer window for a defender."
