Aulas eager to keep players

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is hoping to keep the crux of his squad together.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas is hoping to keep the crux of his squad together for next season.

L'OL secured the Ligue One title this week for an unprecedented fifth time in succession, but Aulas is determined for the success to continue.

However, the team's eye-catching performances could come at a price, with several of their star players sure to have caught the eye of the continent's top clubs.

"I experienced a lot of emotion when we won that fifth title," said Aulas. "It was very important and also very moving.

"Now my priority for next season is to keep the players. They will be much in demand, but we would like to keep them and extend their contracts."

Lyon have been linked with a move for Anderlecht starlet Vincent Kompany, but Aulas has insisted that the asking price of ‚é¼16 million (£11.1 million) is out of the question.

"The idea that Kompany could one day come to Lyon, that is possible," he explained.

"But we have had no talks with Anderlecht officials, and the ‚é¼16 million fee is absolutely impossible.

"That's not the market price for a player of such a level. The right fee would be about half of that."
