French defender primed to join Greeks
Jean-Alain Boumsong is a step closer to joining Panathinaikos from Lyon after the clubs agreed a fee.
The 30-year-old has reportedly agreed terms with the Greek giants after successfully undertaking a medical on Thursday.
He is expected to sign a three-year contract worth €1million-a-year (£835k) while Lyon could net up to €750,000 (£627k) from his transfer.
"Panathinaikos and OL have come to an agreement for the transfer of Jean-Alain Boumsong, who successfully passed a medical in Athens on Thursday," said a statement on Lyon's
official website.
"The transaction was concluded for the sum of €500,000 with a possible bonus of €250,000."
The move would see the former Newcastle, Rangers and Juventus defender reunited with France team-mates Djibril Cisse and Sidney Govou.
