Greek giants meet French foes for the first time
Olympiakos and Bordeaux meet for the very first time on Tuesday, in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
The crunch clash makes for intriguing viewing, as the two sides have never before locked horns in a competitive fixture.
Olympiakos will fancy their chances of coming out on top on this historic occasion, with the Greek giants a formidable proposition on home soil.
They are unbeaten in their last eight Champions League fixtures in Athens and have conceded just one goal in their last six outings.
They have also won three of their four previous meetings with French opposition in front of their own supporters.
Olympiakos have, however, failed to score in three of their last five European fixtures and found the target just four times during the group stages - the poorest record of any side still left in the competition.
In contrast, Bordeaux blazed a trail through their group and enter the knockout stages as the competition's form side.
No-one could better the 16 points they picked up from their six fixtures, while they have conceded just one goal in their last five games.
This is only the second time they have ever faced Greek opponents, but they did see off Panionos 3-2 in the Uefa Cup back in 2007.
Bordeaux currently lead the way in Ligue 1, as they look to successfully defend the crown they claimed last season, while Olympiakos sit second in the Greek top-flight, two points behind arch-rivals Panathinaikos.
Team news
Olympiakos will be without Brazilian duo Diogo and Dudu in midweek.
Diogo lasted just 19 minuets of their domestic fixture against Ergotelis on Saturday before being forced off with a hamstring injury.
Dudu, meanwhile, is nursing a foot problem and misses the continental clash as a result.
Swedish centre-half Olof Mellberg is available after shaking off a knee knock.
Bordeaux boss Laurent Blanc will give Jaroslav Plasil as long as possible to prove his fitness.
The Czech midfielder has not trained since injuring his ankle at Lorient last week, but has been named in the travelling party.
Alou Diarra definitely misses out for the French outfit as he has damaged a hamstring.
Marc Planus is one booking away from a ban and will need to watch his step in Greece.
