Bordeaux boss reflects on a disappointing campaign
Jean Tigana has endured a frustrating campaign but has no plans to leave Bordeaux as a 'failure'.
The former France international returned to Stade Chaban Delmas last summer amid much fanfare, having represented the club with distinction during his playing days.
He has, however, struggled to work his magic in the managerial hot-seat, with Bordeaux set for a disappointing mid-table finish.
Tigana admits he is at a loss to explain the dip in form, but insists he will not be walking away from the challenge.
"I am fed up because I love to win," he told
L'Equipe.
"Few clubs have our facilities, great investors and a fantastic chairman. We have to make sure we do not destroy all of that.
"To me, I have failed. I hate that. I said Bordeaux will be my last club if I can't bring success here, but I don't want to leave as a failure."
Desire
Tigana has called on his players to raise their game for the remaining fixtures of the season, proving to a sceptical fan base that they do have the club's best interests at heart.
"Bordeaux is suffering from mind problems," he said.
"It started before I came here. The players talk a good game but don't take it out onto the pitch.
"When you show no desire, it is not the fault of the coach, the officials or the investors. You have to look yourself right in the eye."
