Lassana Diarra has had his contract with Marseille cancelled by mutual consent.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder is reportedly in talks about a big-money move to the Chinese Super League.

"Olympique de Marseille and Lassana Diarra have terminated his contract by mutual consent, effective today," confirmed the French side on their Twitter feed.

"Having arrived without a transfer fee in the 2015-16 season, Lassana Diarra spent a season and a half at Olympique Marseille."

Diarra was linked with Valencia during last month's transfer window but remained with the Ligue 1 club.

The France international's agent is said to be in advanced negotiations with Shandong Luneng about a lucrative move to Felix Magath's side.

Diarra owes former club Lokomotiv Moscow 10m euros (£6.8m) for breaching his contract in 2016.
