Promising midfielder keen to remain at Rennes and learn his trade

French starlet Yann Mvila fully expects to remain at Rennes next summer, despite mounting interest in his services. The 20-year-old holding midfielder has become a target for a number of Europe's top clubs after progressing at pace over recent years. He has become a leading player in Ligue 1 and has seen a number of impressive displays rewarded with a call-up to the French national side. It is expected to be only a matter of time before he is on the move to pastures new, with Rennes in no position to turn down big-money bids should they materialise. For now, though, Mvila claims he is happy where he is and feels his ongoing development would be better served in the first-team at Route de Lorient.

Responsibility

"I am under contract at Rennes until 2014," the youngster told L'Equipe. "If everything goes smoothly, next May I will have completed my second full season in Ligue 1 and will be preparing to take on more responsibility next term. "You can't cut corners. Some players leave too early to go abroad and end up failing. "I could leave at any moment. I feel open to anything, but I still have much to learn and I believe Rennes are the right club for me."
