Lille striker seeking more ambitious club

Lille striker Gervinho admits he would relish the chance to ply his trade in the Premier League at some point in the future. The Ivory Coast international joined his current club last season, but has reportedly attracted interest from numerous top sides across Europe, including the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool. And while acknowledging his contract with the French club is valid for another two seasons, 23-year-old Gervinho concedes he is tempted by the prospect of playing in England. "A lot of things have been said about my departure. Nothing has been done so far. My agent is managing that," Gervinho told France Football.

Dream

"We could think about a departure, above all to England. "Nowadays it is the place to go for any footballer. Either on a long-term or short-term deal, I dream about it." He added: "I know I am still under contract at Lille and the atmosphere is just great. But a footballer always has to aim higher. "I don't want to leave in a rush. But I want to play and blossom. I need a club that is more ambitious than Lille."
No offer
Lille coach Rudi Garcia insists no bid has yet been made for the striker and admits his exit would rock the team. "No offer has been received," said Garcia. "On a sport level, I never though about his departure. On a financial level, you should ask the question to the chairman. "Anyway, with or without him you don't have the same team."
