French defender delighted to have Los Che deal in place

Adil Rami has revealed that he agreed a switch to Valencia because he feared for his future at Lille. The France international is to see out the 2010/11 campaign in his homeland before moving to Spain in the summer. The 25-year-old is delighted to have put a deal in place, as he can now rest easy for the remainder of the season. He admits he was concerned about how he was going to further his career at one stage, but is now looking forward to testing himself against the best forwards in the Primera Liga. "I can now enjoy the next six months without asking myself questions about the future," Rami told L'Equipe. "I was scared about my future. Now I am under contract until 2015 at a great club.

Compete

"I have been at Lille for five years. Without wanting to disrespect the club, in order to improve I felt I needed to leave. "I didn't want to go to Marseille or Lyon, though, because Lille are already one of the best clubs in France." On the challenge awaiting him at the Mestalla, he added: "In France there is no club that could compete with Valencia. They are the third biggest club in Spain. "La Liga is the best division in the world, with the best players in the world. "Before making the decision I talked with a lot of people and got a lot of advice. Valencia will allow me to improve."
