Lille chairman Michel Seydoux has played down reports suggesting he could soon quit his post.

Lille supremo also confident that Garcia will pen new contract

Lille chairman Michel Seydoux has played down reports suggesting he could soon quit his post. It had been claimed that he was preparing to step aside after helping return Lille to the summit of French football. The club remain well on course to land the Ligue 1 title this season, for the first time in almost 50 years. Seydoux, though, insists he intends to reap the rewards of his hard work and remain at the helm for some time yet. "I don't plan on quitting my position as chairman or as major shareholder of this club," he told L'Equipe. "I will not leave in 2012. I fought hard for 10 years to get the big stadium and I plan to take advantage of it."

Contract

Seydoux has also dismissed concerns regarding the future of coach Rudi Garcia. He will see his current contract with Lille expire at the end of the 2011/12 campaign and is yet to pen an extension. Talks have been opened, though, and Seydoux is confident an agreement will be reached. He added: "Why has Rudi Garcia not extended his contract? That is very simple, we haven't had the time. "But we will shake hands and it will be signed very soon."
