Nice stay top with draw

NICE maintained their lead at the top of Le Championnat despite being held to a goalless draw at fourth-placed Guingamp.

Auxerre missed the chance to overtake Nice at the top after a 1-1 draw at Sochaux.

Francileudo gave the home side the lead a minute before the break and the visitors hopes of getting back into the game suffered a blow when Jean-Alain Boumsong was sent-off after 53 minutes.

Auxerre did not let the numerical disadvantage count against them as they earned a point through Benjamin Mwaruwari's 63rd minute equaliser.

Nantes gained an impressive 1-0 win over defending champions Lyon.

Marama Vahirua hit the all-important goal for the home side after 19 minutes, while Lyon's misery was compounded when Mahamadou Diarra was sent-off for bookable offence within the space of a minute.

Paris Saint Germain moved into fifth spot with a convincing 3-0 win over Strasbourg at The Parc Des Princes.

Fabrice Fiorese sent the home side on the way with the opener after seven minutes and a brace from Argentine striker Martin Cardetti (14, 47) wrapped up the win for the capital side.

Lens piled the misery on struggling Rennes to move into the top six with a narrow 1-0 victory.

A last minute goal from John Utaka was enough to give last season's runners-up all three points.

Bordeaux missed the chance to close the gap on the leaders after going down to a 2-1 defeat to Marseille at The Stade Velodrome.

Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf fired the home side in front from the penalty spot after 15 minutes, but Portuguese star Pauleta levelled for the visitors six minutes after the break.

Former Everton star Ibrahima Bakayoko hit the winner for Marseille in the 74th minute.

Cedric Mionnet's late equaliser gave Sedan a 2-2 draw with Monaco.

Shabani Nonda opened the scoring for the home side after 15 minutes, but Dusko Djurisic drew the sides level ten minutes after the break.

Nonda restored Monaco's lead in the 84th minute lead and it looked set to be the winner until Mionnet popped up with an equaliser two minutes from time.

Montpellier climbed away from trouble with a narrow 1-0 win over struggling Lille.

Fode Mansurue hit the only goal of the game after 68 minutes to give the home side all three points.

Troyes moved out of the bottom three with a 1-1 draw with ten-man Le Havre.

Benjamin Nivet fired the home side in front after 39 minutes, but Jermey Henin drew the visitors level from the penalty spot a minute after the restart.

The visitors were then made to hang on for the draw when promising striker Florent-Sinama Pongolle was sent-off on the hour mark.
