Romano leaves with parting shot

Sedan have parted company with coach Serge Romano after a series of poor results.

Sedan have parted company with coach Serge Romano after a series of poor results.

The final straw for the newly-promoted side was the weekend's 3-1 defeat to Bordeaux which left the club second from bottom, with just eight points from 11 matches.

And Romano admits the axe came as no great surprise, though he left with a parting shot at a number of his former playing staff.

"I was expecting it," conceded Romano.

"But I feel a little bitterness and rage. That is logical.

"I am angry, not because I have been fired, but because some players haven't helped me.

"A group has to trust you, and when they stop, you can't do anything.

"A number of players declared they couldn't understand my tactics.

"The new players, that have joined the club this summer, didn't want to question themselves."

Sedan confirmed that assistant coach Jose Pasqualetti will take interim charge of the team.
