Dutch side claim 2-0 victory

Ajax produced an impressive display to beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 at the Amsterdam Tournament. Atletico have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market this summer but the likes of Jose Antonio Reyes and Diego Forlan were left to watch from the sidelines. The home side dominated the opening 45 minutes but could not break the deadlock until moments into the second half, when Urby Emanuelson's delightful cross from the left wing was headed home by Gabri. Atletico responded well and were only denied an equaliser by a string of superb saves from Maarten Stekelenburg. Wesley Sneijder then doubled Ajax's advantage with a blistering shot from the edge of the area. Ajax's night was soured in the final minute when Gabri was sent off for elbowing Simao Sabrosa, but the Dutch team go into their next game against Arsenal with an excellent chance of winning the tournament.
