Jose Mourinho rushed to the defence of under-fire forward Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Real Madrid's Copa del Rey clash with fierce rivals Barcelona on Wednesday.
The former Manchester United star started the season in blistering form and has found the net an amazing 21 times already.
But following a dramatic dip in form in recent weeks the 26-year-old received cat calls from the fans in their 2-1 win at Real Mallorca prompting Mourinho to hit back at the supporters over his performance in the match.
"He worked like an animal and did exactly what the team needed," said Mourinho. "He does not need to score or be man of the match every time.
"I told him nobody can touch him after the way that he worked in the second half.
"When the team wins everyone is responsible and when they lose everyone is responsible too. Simple."
