Barcelona move back to the top of La Liga for the first time since October after their 6-1 drubbing of Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, but the title race is far from over according to Luis Garcia.

Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao allowed Luis Enrique’s side the chance to head back to the summit, and they did not pass on the opportunity as a Lionel Messi hat-trick inspired Barca to victory.

Barcelona, who face Real Madrid in the league on March 22, hold a one-point advantage at the top of the table but Garcia believes the race for the title is far from over.

“We’ll see more strange results,” Garcia told Sky Sports.

“The league is not done yet. There are many games, including the Champions League, coming so the players will get tired.

“There are important games coming up that you will need to perform 100 per cent in but it’s not easy. You will see Barcelona and Real Madrid dropping more points for sure.”

Luis Suarez sent Barcelona on their way to the top, opening the scoring in the sixth minute and then rounded off proceedings with a smart finish in added time - his 13th goal of the season.

After a slow start to life in Spain, the former Liverpool striker has now scored eight goals in his last eight matches in all competitions and Luis Garcia believes the 28-year-old is now enjoying his new ‘lower’ role.

“He’s enjoying life at Barca,” Garcia added.

“At Liverpool the team was playing for him. All the balls arrived in the box looking for Luis Suarez. Here he has more players that are arriving into the box so he’s got a different role.

“Maybe a lower role because you’ve got players like Neymar and Messi in the side. They are players that love to have the ball and score goals.

“Now Suarez is adapting and he knows he’s going to have chances and can take it easy.”
