Sevilla have decided not to extend the contract of coach Gregorio Manzano.

Former Real Mallorca boss is axed

Sevilla have decided not to extend the contract of coach Gregorio Manzano. The former Real Mallorca boss took charge of the Andalusian club in September after they sacked Antonio Alvarez. He guided them into fifth, but they were unable to repeat their feat of last season of claiming a UEFA Champions League spot. And now Sevilla have opted not to extend his stay, with Manzano confirming the news at a press conference. "I had a meeting with the president and the sporting director at which they informed me that the contract would not be extended," Manzano said. "If both the president, considering all the years he has led this club, and one of the best sporting directors in Spain believe we are not the right people to begin a new project then you have to respect the decisions."
