Cuper blasts Ronaldo excuses
The Brazilian World Cup winner claimed his unhappy relationship with the Argentine led to him looking for a move away from Inter.
Ronaldo blasted the former Valencia boss for putting his future at risk by playing him when he was not fit.
Cuper has hit back at the skilful forward by claiming he was an easy target for Ronaldo so as to take the flak off himself for leaving Inter.
"He used me as an excuse because I'm weak," Cuper told Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo. "He couldn't say bad words about the president, who made a lot for him, and so about supporters, who still love him.
"The most simple thing to do was attack me. I don't know if people believes in me or in him, what I know is that people don't completely have faith in Ronaldo.
Cuper also admitted he was upset at Ronaldo for claiming that he put his career at risk.
"I don't know if I'm a good coach, but I'm not stupid," added Cuper. "If you have a player like Ronaldo, you don't risk his health. And we had the confirmation we worked in a good way during the World Cup, where he played in a very positive way.
"I have to say also that I could train him only four weeks over the seventy of the season. But I can say more when he suffered only a very little pain during the match he left the pitch without waiting for the replacement. And on two occasions a referee told us that this habit was incorrect".
Meanwhile, Cuper has revealed his main ambition this season is to win The Scudetto having suffered title heartbreak on the last day of the season.
Defeat at Lazio on the final day saw Inter give up the chance to win the title and allow Juventus to collect the crown. Cuper now wants to erase the pain of that defeat by bringing the title back to Inter.
"I have a debt with Inter. From May 5th I have had a big disappointment, I have the duty to win the scudetto.
"Inter supporters know that I can only guarantee a big effort, will, and work.
"Now we're looking to our game, but we're going the right way".
