Real toil against Tokyo

Real Madrid have suffered a 3-0 defeat on their tour of Japan.

Real Madrid are suffering a pre-season crisis, after the squad's earlier complaints of fatigue were followed by an embarrassing defeat to Tokyo Verdy.

Madrid fielded a strong side, including Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo as well as England pair David Beckham and Michael Owen, but the Spanish giants were stunned by Tokyo - who had previously conceded 26 goals in their last six games.

Goals in the seventh and 27th minutes rocked Madrid, before the misery was completed in the 53rd minute by Takuya Yamada.

Beckham was returning following his hamstring strain, and the England captain was involved in most of Real's few memorable moments.

The midfielder tried an audacious lob from the half-way line in the 58th minute, and he was also involved in a feud with Kazuyuki Toda, as Los Merengues struggled to come to terms with their situation.

Real still have two games left on their tour, and coach Wanderley Luxemburgo will now have to consider his players' fitness after this lacklustre display.
