Keeper confident Real will improve

Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas has urged the club's demanding fans to be patient following a slow start to the season. After only managing a goalless draw in their opening Primera Liga clash at Mallorca, the Spanish giants failed to sparkle in Saturday's laboured 1-0 home win over Osasuna. Some Real fans whistled at the team and new coach Jose Mourinho after they failed to break the deadlock at the Bernabeu in the first half. But Ricardo Carvalho finally opened the scoring after the break to give his boss a victorious home debut, and Spain shot-stopper Casillas insists Mourinho's side just need time to get going. "I would ask the Bernabeu public for patience because we are a young team," said Casillas. "We'll move forward step by step and each day we'll set our sights higher. "We'll work calmly and little by little you'll see the results."

Shock

World Cup winner Casillas has warned his side not to be distracted by Barcelona's shock 2-0 home defeat to newly-promoted Hercules on Saturday. "We need to focus on our next match and our goal is to consolidate a group of players and a squad so that the machinery starts to function," he said. "The team is more focused now and that's thanks to our all-round effort. "We are solid and strong and we hope to stay that way. It's an important step forward that we have not conceded in our two league matches."
