Uefa has reduced the Real Madrid sanctions following the dismissals of Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos.
Penalties reduced following Alonso and Ramos red cards
Some of the sanctions imposed by Uefa on Real Madrid following the controversial dismissals of Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos have been reduced.
The pair were found guilty of improper conduct last week after seeming to deliberately incur second yellow cards for time-wasting during a Champions League clash with Ajax.
The red cards received mean Ramos and Alonso will miss Real's dead-rubber with Auxerre this week, with Los Merengues already assured of top spot in Group G, and their previous cautions will now be wiped out ahead of the knock-out rounds.
Manager Jose Mourinho and goalkeepers Iker Casillas and Jerzy Dudek, as well as Alonso and Ramos, all received penalties, despite Real appealing against the initial rulings.
Uefa has decided to reduce the sanctions although some penalties still remain.
A Uefa announcement read: "Real Madrid are now fined €100,000 instead of €120,000.
"Coach Jose Mourinho is now fined €30,000 instead of €40,000.
"Jose Mourinho is now suspended for one match - Wednesday's Group G fixture between Madrid and Auxerre - instead of the initial suspension of one game with a second game deferred for a probationary period of three years.
"The fines handed down by the Uefa control and disciplinary body to the Madrid players Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos (€20,000 each), Iker Casillas (€10,000) and Jerzy Dudek (€5,000) remain the same.
"The one-match suspensions handed down to Alonso and Ramos also stand."
