Real star set for two weeks out after suffering slight hamstring tear
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is in a race against time to be fit for the Champions League clash with Lyon.
The Portuguese forward suffered a thigh injury in Thursday night's 7-0 rout of Malaga and Real have confirmed he is set to be out for 10-15 days.
A scan on Friday confirmed the world-record signing had suffered a minor tear, making him a doubt for the last-16 second leg against Lyon on 16th March. The two sides drew 1-1 in the first leg in France.
Ronaldo hobbled off against Malaga in the 76th minute after scoring a hat-trick, and had been hopeful of playing in Sunday's league game at Racing Santander.
"I got injured last night after scoring the third goal but it doesn't look bad. I hope to be ok for the next game and help the team," the 26-year-old had posted on his Twitter account on Friday before the message was later taken down.
Thursday night's victory put Real back within seven points of league leaders Barcelona with 12 games left, while Ronaldo's hat-trick put him level with Barca star Lionel Messi at the league's top scorer with 27 goals.
Ronaldo has started all 26 league games so far this season and has also scored four goals in seven Champions League games.
