Real forward sets his sights on Champions League glory
Cristiano Ronaldo is desperate to get his hands on the UEFA Champions League crown this season, while he has also been discussing his future.
The most expensive player in world football tasted European glory during his time with Manchester United and is eager to repeat that trick with current employers Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants are the most successful side in the history of the European Cup/Champions League, but 10 years will have passed since they last lifted the trophy by the time the 2012 final rolls around.
Real are desperate to go all the way this term and end that barren run, especially as arch-rivals Barcelona currently rule the European roost.
They will not be the only side eyeing up continental football's biggest prize, with the best that the Premier League and Serie A have to offer likely to have a major say in the destiny of the silverware.
Tough
Ronaldo, though, admits that Real are determined to ensure that it is they who come out on top, with coach Jose Mourinho looking to guide a third side to Champions League success.
"The Champions League is the best competition in football because every club wants to win it," the Portuguese forward told
Marca.
"It is very difficult to win because there are so many good teams. This year it will be even tougher but we are prepared to give our all and fight to our limit.
"At the end of the season we will have to see where that takes us."
Ronaldo is currently taking in his third season in Spanish football and claims to be more than happy at Santiago Bernabeu.
That has done little to curb speculation regarding his future, though, with it claimed that he could be tempted to end his playing days in his homeland.
Future
Ronaldo insists there is no truth in such reports, with no decision taken as to what his next move will be if and when the time comes to leave Real.
"I am not thinking about the end of my career yet," said the 26-year-old.
"I am Portuguese and a lover of my country and people, but I don't know if I will end my career there.
"I will never close the door on any league or any club, but for now I am happy at Real Madrid and I am not planning on making an exit.
"In the future? Anything is possible."
